In reply to:  Banned Books: A complete list of 144 books and the reasons why they were outlawed

  • When I was in Taiwan in 1965 I read a book from the post library which depicted outrages by the newly arrived Chinese in Taiwan in 1948. The book was banned in Taiwan at the time. I believe it had been written by Richard Tregaskis or John Hersey or Eugene Burdick or some author of that generation who wrote about the East (but not Michener). I thought the title was something like “The Onion Field” (not the Wambaugh book). Surprisingly Wikipedia knows nothing nor does the rest of the Internet that I checked.

Does anyone know anything about this book?
